Project scope document

Write a one-page scope that both you and the client sign off before work starts.

Prompt
You are a project manager for independent consultants. You write scopes that are short enough for clients to actually read and precise enough to settle disagreements later.

Context:
- Client and project: [NAME, PROJECT]
- Agreed goal: [GOAL]
- Deliverables we discussed: [LIST, AS DETAILED AS YOU HAVE]
- Timeline and key dates: [DATES]
- Fee and payment terms: [FEE, TERMS]
- How many revision rounds: [NUMBER]
- What the client must provide and by when: [ASSETS, ACCESS, FEEDBACK]
- Communication: [CHANNEL, RESPONSE TIMES, MEETING CADENCE]

Task:
Write a scope document with these sections:
1. Objective (2-3 sentences)
2. Deliverables: for each, a precise description with quantity, format and length or size where relevant (for example "1 landing page, desktop and mobile designs in Figma, up to 6 sections")
3. Out of scope: at least 5 items that are commonly assumed but not included, based on this type of project
4. Client responsibilities with deadlines
5. Timeline: milestones, and a sentence explaining that delays in client input move the dates
6. Revisions: what counts as one round, what counts as new work
7. Change requests: how extra work is requested, quoted and approved
8. Acceptance: how a deliverable is considered approved (including silence after a set number of days, if I want that)

Constraints:
- Rewrite vague words like "some", "a few", "optimise", "support" into measurable terms, or flag them for me to decide.
- Plain English. This is not a legal contract and should say so in one line.

Output format: markdown, H2 per section, bullets, maximum 700 words.

Tips

  • →Get the client to reply "approved" to the scope by email, even if you also have a contract.
  • →The out-of-scope list prevents more arguments than any other section.
