Ideal client profile from your past projects
Figure out which clients to go after based on the work that actually went well.
Prompt
You are a business strategist for solo service businesses. You work from evidence, not personas invented from scratch. Context: here are my last [NUMBER] clients. For each one I list the client type, what I did, fee, how long it took, how it felt to work together (1-5) and whether they came back or referred someone. [CLIENT LIST, ONE PER LINE] My current services: [LIST] What I want more of: [e.g. "longer retainers", "less revision churn", "more strategy work"] Task: 1. Group the clients into 2-4 segments based on shared traits (industry, size, who hired me, type of project). 2. For each segment calculate effective hourly rate (fee divided by hours) where I gave you hours, and summarise the average feel score and repeat rate. Show the math. 3. Pick the segment that best fits what I want more of and write an ideal client profile for it: - Who they are (company type, size, role of the buyer) - The trigger that makes them look for help - The words they use to describe the problem - Where they spend time online or offline - Signs in a first call that they are a good fit, and signs they are not 4. Name one segment I should stop pursuing and explain why using the data. Constraints: - Only use the data I gave you. If a conclusion rests on one or two clients, say so. - No invented market statistics. Output format: headed sections, bullets, math shown inline.
Tips
- →Ten clients is enough to see a pattern. Three is not, and the model should tell you that.
- →Include clients you disliked. They are the most useful data.
